  1. Overview of AEAS

AEAS (Australian Education Assessment Services) is a comprehensive assessment test for international students who wish to study in private schools in Australia and many other countries. The test not only assesses English proficiency but also assesses students’ mathematical abilities and logical thinking. The AEAS test was developed by the Centre for Foreign Language Proficiency Research and Verification of the University of Melbourne.

The exam is divided into 3 levels based on the level of students according to:

  • Grades 4 – 6
  • Grades 7 – 9
  • Grades 10 – 12

  1. AEAS test content

The AEAS exam consists of 3 main assessments: English Language Proficiency Assessment, Mathematical Reasoning Ability Assessment and Non-Verbal General Ability Assessment:

English Language Proficiency Assessment

  • Comprehensive test of skills: Vocabulary and Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing
  • Scale: 0 – 100
  • The results will help the school assess the student’s ability to learn in an English-speaking academic environment

Mathematical Reasoning Ability Assessment

  • Includes math topics according to the high school program
  • Scale: 0 – 9
  • For students in grade 4 and above

Non-Verbal General Ability Assessment

  • Tests the ability to think, solve problems, and reason logically
  • No specific expertise required
  • Scale: 0 – 9

The AEAS exam lasts about 3 hours, specifically:

The results of the AEAS exam will not determine the pass or fail score. Depending on the level of study, students will be recommended a minimum number of weeks of English study to prepare for the main curriculum, whereby:

Take the paper-based or computer-based exam at authorized test centers.

 

  1. AEAS Exam Fee

The fee for taking the AEAS test is AUD 585.00, which includes sending the assessment results to 3 institutions of the student’s choice. If a student wishes to submit results to more than 3 institutions, an additional AUD 15 will be charged for each institution incurred.
