1. PTE Overview

PTE (Pearson Test of English) is an international standardized English proficiency test, widely recognized across the globe. It comprehensively assesses test-taker’ English communication skills and is used for purposes such as studying abroad, applying for work and settlement visas to countries including the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UAE, Singapore, and many other countries.

Currently, PTE includes 03 main test types:

• PTE Academic – Designed for international university admissions, Australian and New Zealand student visa applications, and professional registration.
• PTE Core – A general English test recognized by the Canadian government for immigration and citizenship applications.
• PTE UK Visa Tests – SELT (Secure English Language Tests) for UK work, study, family reunification, or settlement visas. These include the PTE Home and PTE Academic UKVI

Among these, PTE Academic is the most popular type, offering a realistic and objective assessment of English proficiency in academic settings. PTE Academic Test results are recognized by universities, higher education institutions, government agencies, and international organizations that require academic-level English proficiency.

PTE Academic, PTE Core, and PTE Academic UKVI are all scored on a scale of 10 to 90. In addition to an Overall Score, test-takers will also receive individual scores for each skill: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing.

PTE uses two main scoring methods:

• Correct/Incorrect scoring: Some question types require completely correct answers to receive any points. Incorrect or incomplete answers will get no points.
• Partial credit scoring: For more complex question types (such as describing images, summarizing, short answers, etc.), test-takers can still earn points for partially correct responses, allowing test-takers to demonstrate partial language proficiency.

PTE Home A1, A2, and B1 represent basic English proficiency levels. These tests assess two skills – Speaking and Listening – and results are given as either Pass or Fail.

This is a computer-based online test conducted at authorized test centers. In Vietnam, there are currently 09 authorized PTE test centers. Among these, Duc Anh PTE Test Center is the first official test center in Vietnam and also the only company in the Southeast Asia – Pacific region to receive both the Outstanding Customer Experience Award and the Premium Partner recognition.

PTE test fees in Vietnam are as follows:

• PTE Academic, PTE Core, PTE Academic UKVI: 185 USD (≈ 4,800,000 VND)
• PTE Home: 150 USD (≈ 3,900,000 VND)

8. Other Information

• Score validity: 2 years
• Score release time: Typically within 48 hours online (unofficial); and within 5 business days (official)
• Registration method: Register on the PTE website or contact Duc Anh test center for registration support.
• Rescheduling fee: It will be free if the test-takers reschedule at least 14 days in advance. The rescheduling is not permitted less than 14 days before the test date. The number of reschedules is limited to 6 times.
• Payment methods: PTE Voucher (Cash) / Credit Card / Debit Card
• Test frequency: Regularly
• Retake policy: Test-taker may register for a retake as soon as you receive the official results of the previous test.
